Once every year, the project receives international support. Assisted by the ijgd there is a three-week youth camp every summer. In 2012, 18 youths from 10 countries took part. The participant who had the farthest way to travel came from South Korea.
The youth help to fight Prunus serotina, which under expert supervision is jointly removed from oak woods, heaths and moors by using one’s hands, reaping hooks or spades. The youth stay at a boy/girl scout cabin near Schermbeck. Two rented vans take them to their place of work.
Thus, the Life project does not only promote the European natural heritage, but also international communication. Plans for another camp next year are in the pipeline. For more information, revisit our Website in December.
