On march 21st, the forestry office started afforestation works in Diersfordt forest. As reported before, a total of 17 hectares of non-indigenous Common spruce and Douglas fir have been felled in several places. Because of the prolonged freezing season and the advanced time of the year, an area of merely two hectares adjacent to B8 will be reforested as a start. Exclusively young trees of indigenous Common oak will be planted there. On the remaining 15 hectares of the area, appropriate preparations will be carried out in the course of the year, so that the planting can be completed during autumn/winter. Thus, the improvement of the habitat „Acidophilous oak forest“ has progressed essentially.
