In june, acidophilous oak woods with moors and heaths draw lively interest during two events:
On 16.06.2013, our project partner NRW-Stiftung extended an invitation for a big breakfast, assisted by Biologische Station and Heimatverein Herrlichkeit Diersfordt in Wesel-Diersfordt. 200 guests came to partake the event in a pavilion, which was set up especially for this purpose. Before breakfast, the visitors had the opportunity to inform themselves about intended measures in the project site Großes Veen during a field trip guided by Biologische Station. The staff of Biologische Station were also available during the breakfast, where they answered questions about the project. Afterwards, the project exhibition in the nearby Heimatmuseum Eiskeller Diersfordt could be visited.
On 26.06.2013, UPA (Environment Committee of Wesel county) came to visit the project in the company of local authorities. During a walk around Schwarzes Wasser, descriptive report on intended and implemented measures, as there are creation of new oak forests, restoration of heath meres and visitor information and direction was given.
